LSNF legal staff also engage in significant litigation including large scale impact work and appellate work. To fulfill the mission to remove barriers to legal access, LSNF carries out community education and outreach with two Justice on the Block mobile response units where individuals can speak to an attorney, paralegal, apply for our services, or have assistance filing pro se documents.
 
Ability to work independently and in a team environment is desired. Required experience in e-filing, client interviews, document and hearing preparations, Experience drafting letters, legal motions and orders as required by the legal jurisdictions is needed. Ability to effectively communicate with clients and maintain accurate client records. Ideal candidates will have a desire to positively impact the clients' lives and the overall community. Outreach, community education or presentation experience is helpful. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications can expect an entry level annual salary of $36,000 plus benefits.

LSNF handles more than 9,700 cases a year and does not charge their clients for their legal services. Work independently and as part of a team to obtain positive results for clients with a focus on civil law matters such as family law, disaster recovery, veterans' legal services, victims' advocacy, public benefits, and real property law. 

Attorneys at LSNF have the ability to work collaboratively with superior legal professionals in civil litigation and administrative law to strategize and advocate on behalf of clients and seek justice. LSNF legal staff also engage in significant litigation including large scale impact work and appellate work. To fulfill the mission to remove barriers to legal access, LSNF carries out community education and outreach with two Justice on the Block mobile response units where individuals can speak to an attorney, apply for our services, or have assistance filing pro se documents.

Applicants should be a member of The Florida Bar in good standing, with preference given to candidates with public interest or legal aid experience. Candidates must have strong organizational and communication skills, be comfortable interacting with clients, and have a desire to advocate. Salary offers depend on years of experience. Applicants who have recently passed the Bar exam but do not have attorney experience can expect an entry salary of $58,000.00. Candidates with ten years of experience or more can expect salary range of $76,800 or higher. Candidates with 20 years of experience or more can expect salary range of $96,900 or higher. Comprehensive fringe benefits package includes:

  • Offices open to public Monday - Thursday
  • Immediate paid time off includes holidays, sick leave, and personal leave.
  • Personal or vacation leave earnings equal 2.4 weeks a year and after two years, increases to 5 weeks per year.

Medical-Legal Partnership Law Clerk Fellowship (Tallahassee)

Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for a Medical-Legal Partnership Paralegal in its Tallahassee office. This position will work to reach and assist vulnerable populations within our community with civil legal issues. The medical-legal partnership allows medical providers who identify a possible civil legal matter to refer patients for legal services.  This position will involve coordinating with medical staff on the legal referral process and on staff training. This position will also involve assisting with community outreach and education programs under the direction of an attorney focused on community-based legal services. This position is ideal for law students focused on health law/policy public administration, legal access, or social work.

The Medical-Legal Partnership Law Clerk Fellow will receive $17.50/hour and is expected to work part-time about 20 hours a week during the Fall/ Spring semester but can work additional hours during the Summer semester, or when available. Specific days and schedule can be discussed. The position is available at our Tallahassee office location.

Responsibilities and duties include conducting legal research and writing; assisting the supervising attorney with client intake and other related interviews; community-based outreach and education about our services, case development and preparation; court appearances with supervising attorney; and performing other related duties as assigned. Legal Services of North Florida is seeking to hire a part-time Law Clerk to with our Tax Law Team to work directly with attorney and paralegal staff working to provide legal justice, financial relief, and tax advocacy. We are a large, non-profit law firm, with 105+ employees in seven offices across North Florida, that provides hands-on experience for law school students and understands the value of mentoring and providing exposure to a variety of civil legal areas. We support a flexible schedule for law school students.  Work independently and as part of a team to obtain positive results for community members. 

Law Clerk will receive $17.50/hour and is expected to work 10 -20 hours a week. Law School graduates or students not currently enrolled this semester can work up to 30 hours a week. Specific days and schedule can be discussed.

Responsibilities and duties include conducting legal research and writing; assisting the supervising attorney with client intake and other related interviews; working in a hands-on capacity directly with clients; reviewing client needs and legal concerns to determine eligibility for various assistance programs or to identify a possible legal remedy. This position is designed to be office-based to allow for client assistance.
