Part-Time Attorney (Ft Walton Beach)

Legal Services of North Florida has an opening for an CASE COMPLIANCE CLERK that can be located in any one of our office locations: Tallahassee, Quincy, Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach, or Panama City. The Case Compliance Clerk will work with digital case files to review legal case coding to ensure compliance with grant funder requirements and specifications.  As a firm, LSNF handles over 7,000 civil legal cases a year and maintains funding from 55- 60 federal, state, and local funding sources. Client case files need periodic review to ensure time is billed correctly and cases are closed in a timely manner consistent with funder requirements. Responsibilities include working with LegalServer, the client database system, to review and monitor case coding, reporting to leadership periodically on case compliance, and working closely with managing attorneys, supervisors, and legal case handlers to ensure proper understanding of grant funding parameters and case compliance to increase organization effectiveness.

Must be detailed oriented and proactive. Candidates should possess a high level of professionalism, be able to exercise good judgment, and have proven experience in communicating to a variety of individuals. Ideal candidates would have experience working or volunteering for non-profits, social services agencies, or community-based organizations. Preference for candidates with experience performing internal audits and monitoring for quality control. Experience with grant funded organizations, LegalServer,  or other law firm or client database woudl be helpful.

The Data Analyst is a professional position that utilizes our client database system and outside data from community and official sources to provide reporting on historical performance, feedback on current operations to improve organization, and contribute to forward planning and strategic goals to align with mission to increase access to civil legal justice to vulnerable and low income communities. Work to increase organization efficiencies and generate reporting requirements to meet grant requirements and organization needs. Individual would need to make actionable recommendations based on data and desired grant deliverables. Must be detailed oriented and proactive. Candidates should possess a high level of professionalism, be able to exercise good judgment, and have proven experience in communicating complex ideas to a variety of individuals. Ideal candidates would have experience working or volunteering for non-profits, social services agencies, or community-based organizations. Preference for candidates with experience with LegalServer or other law firm database and/or a large community organization.

Responsibilities include being a leading expert on current client database system, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality, and working with various teams to provide meaningful data to focus our work and address potential gaps in areas of legal service. Legal Services of North Florida is seeking to hire a part-time Law Clerk to with with our Leon County Pandemic Recovery Team in the Tallahassee office to work directly with attorney and paralegal staff working to provide legal justice, financial relief, and housing assistance to Leon County residents affected by COVID Pandemic. Come work with great people who do hard work to better the lives of low-income and vulnerable individuals in our communities. We are a large, non-profit law firm, with 95+ employees in six offices across North Florida, that provides hands-on experience for law school students and understands the value of mentoring and providing exposure to a variety of civil legal areas. We support a flexible schedule for law school students.  Work independently and as part of a team to obtain positive results for Leon County resident recovering from devastating legal and financial impacts of COVID pandemic. 

Law Clerk will receive $17.50/hour and is expected to work 10 -20 hours a week. Law School graduates or students not currently enrolled this semester can work up to 30 hours a week. Specific days and schedule can be discussed.

Responsibilities and duties include conducting legal research and writing; assisting the supervising attorney with client intake and other related interviews; working in a hands-on capacity directly with clients; reviewing client needs and legal concerns to determine eligibility for various assistance programs or to identify a possible legal remedy.  This position is designed to be office-based to allow for client assistance.

Interested candidates should be a law school student, have a minimum of one year of law school experience, or be a recent law school graduate. Ability to work independently and in team environments, to analyze complex issues and to obtain results to positively impact the client or the overall community are important.

The System Engineer is a professional position that both configures client database system to match the changing workflow of the organization and integrates software components into the existing systems to increase efficiencies generate reporting requirements to meet grant requirements and organization needs. Must be detailed oriented and proactive. Candidates should possess a high level of professionalism, be able to exercise good judgment, and have proven experience of effective system configuration and integration of software components. Ideal candidates would have experience being a part of a team that works with users to help facilitate technology changes and considers users interaction with database for optimization.

Preference for candidates with experience with LegalServer or other law practice database and/or a large community organization.
