Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) invites the general public to attend a special training presentation: “FAIR HOUSING, It’s Not an Option … It’s the Law” presented by Mia Angela Adams,  attorney and Fair Housing Education and Outreach Coordinator for LSNF.  See training flyer.

 

Fair Housing Main Event

Wednesday, April 18, 2007  from 8:30 am until 12 Noon at  the Pensacola Association of Realtors  located at 107 West Main St. in Pensacola.

Legal Services of North Florida, Inc., the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission, and the U.S. Dept. of HUD sponsored Cathy Cloud, Senior Vice-President of the National Fair Housing Alliance and Allison Bethel, Director of the Civil Rights Division of the Florida Attorney Generals Office to speak at Florida to celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.  Guest speakers discussed Fair Housing from a national perspective and project testing.

Thursday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the City Library in Pensacola.

Legal Services of North Florida, Inc. and the Escambia-Pensacola Human Relations Commission were at  the City Library (part of the West Florida Regional Library System) located at 200 W. Gregory St, Pensacola, FL 32502 to help people with questions about Fair Housing.

 

Special Presentation

Wednesday, November 15 from 10 am at Quality Inn Bayside in Fort Walton Beach.

The Florida Commission on Human Relations and Legal Services of North Florida, Inc.  co-sponsored a special presentation entitled “Know your Civil Rights Under the Florida Statutes.”  The event was held at 322 Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton Beach, at the Quality Inn Bayside.  Regina Owens, the Housing Manager with the Florida Commission on Human Relations spoke on the topic of housing discrimination and the Florida Statutes.   Other guests and speakers from the Florida Commission on Human Relations included Celena Grant and Jamila Moran. Presenters and Legal Services staff were available after the presentation to answer questions and to assist with formal complaints regarding fair housing violations.   Check out our event flyer.

 

Special Training Event

Tuesday, August 23 from 9 am at HealthFirst Network building in Pensacola.

Legal Services of North Florida, Inc. hosted a special training event entitled “Understanding Your Rights under the Florida Civil Rights Law.” The event was held at 715 South Palafox Street in Pensacola, at the HealthFirst Network building. Regina Owens, the Housing Manager with the Florida Commission on Human Relations spoke on the topic of housing discrimination followed by a discussion on employment discrimination. Presenters, Legal Services staff, and representatives from the Florida Human Relations Commission were available after the presentation to answer questions and to assist with formal complaints regarding fair housing violations and employment discrimination violations.   SEE NEWS ARTICLE  PDF or DIRECT LINK

 

Hurricane Readiness Day

Saturday, June 24 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at St. Ann’s Parish Hall in Gulf Breeze.  

Legal Services of North Florida, Inc.  discussed how to spot housing discrimination so that one is not refused housing because of  race, color, national origin, religion, sex, handicap, or familial status after a hurricane when affordable housing opportunities are low, and tensions are high.   Many turned out and a good time was had by all.  Check out our event flyer.
